“Transparent screen Display”
Creating new experiences with high-transparency,
high-brightness image display

It is a cylindrical transparent screen capable of showing videos in 360° and is expected to be incorporated into next-generation devices such as AI speakers.
Displays using XR technology are largely divided into two types, and it is are expected to realize immersive and realistic video experiences that bring together the real and virtual worlds:
・ The first is the panoramic XR display
・ The second is the volumetric XR display
Volumetric XR display allows viewers to surround one object and enjoy a sense of reality and presence at the same time.
Transparent display is developed in pursuit of the possibilities of the new volumetric XR display.
When you think of an XR display, you might imagine a mount-type display, such as a head-mounted display (HMD), but we are aiming to bringing forth a transparent 3D display that makes the viewer feel as through the object they are seeing is actually there, without wearing any special device.
As a first step in this study, we developed a cylindrical transparent display, with excellent transparency and brightness that realize 2D appear to be floating in midair.
